Class one is a busy and fun class with six pupils and four staff. The class teacher is Mrs Mc Anulty and our three classroom assistants are; Eileen McCann, Alisha Devlin and Shauna Haughey.
As the pupils learn in many different ways we use visual strategies, music and sounds, a tactile approach to hands on learning. We follow the Northern Ireland Curriculum which is adapted to suit the needs of each individual pupil.
We begin each day with structured play activities, altering these between indoor play and outdoor play. Some pupils in class one follow a sensory diet and therefore attend sensory circuit each morning in the hall.
All pupils then take part in our group roll call. Here we explore a range of topics from Literacy, Numeracy, Music and ICT.
Class one join the other Key Stage 1 pupils for P.E twice a week in the school hall, we also have pre swimming lessons in the hydropool and gymnastics in the ball pool. In term two we are exploring the topic ‘Keeping us Safe and Sound’. We are looking at all the people who keep us safe, from Doctors and nurses to Firemen and our teachers.
