Welcome to Class 15. Our class has six girls and four boys that are within both KS3 and 4. In our class pupils are supported to build on the skills acquired in their primary experience by accessing the full NI Curriculum which is delivered in appropriate and engaging ways using new interactive technology, resources and classroom practice.
In Class 15 teaching and learning activities focus on six areas of learning: Communication, Using Mathematics, Using ICT, Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities (TSPCs), Social and Emotional and Physical Education. Activities are differentiated to ensure that all pupils are supported to develop skills in each of these areas in the most accessible and appropriate way. Learning opportunities are created for pupils based on their strengths and interests as we believe education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full (Article 29).
In Class 15 we aim to empower all pupils to be the best they can be and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives. The learning opportunities provided will support the young people in our class to develop as individuals, contributors to society and the environment. In line with this, pupils explore and experience the following subjects: Environment and Society, Learning for Life and Work (LLW), Science and Technology, Religious Education and The Arts.
This year, Class 15 will participate in The CCEA Entry Level Life Skills and Extended Life Skills specification to help increase their knowledge and confidence and demonstrate their achievement in developing independent living skills for adult life. This qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills developed through the Learning for Life and Work Area of Learning. This term Class 15 will engage in the Entry Level Qualification ‘Participating in a Community Project’ to develop independent living skills, communication skills, personal skills and the ability to apply learning in a practical context.
