All the pupils in Class 4 returned to school after the Christmas break happy and well. The children were excited to hear that the new theme was called, Let's Go which is learning about transport. Every morning the children were excited to take part in structured play. The play area was set up with a water tray with watering wheels, a tuff tray with shaving foam and plastic boats, an airport for role play and wooden blocks with diggers for construction. Each week the pupils creatively made a piece of artwork for our wall display, we even explored with using paper mache to make hot air balloons.
As part of WAU the pupils have been learning about transport old and new and the season of winter by observing the daily weather, discussing winter clothes and having fun in the snow! In Science we took part in a magical experiment to make our own snowman. In Horticulture the pupils made bird feeders using recyclable cardboard toilet rolls, peanut butter and birdseed. We hung these on the branches of the trees in our playground, such delight amongst the children when they noticed the bird feeders had all disappeared the next day.
In Maths we are learning about time; O'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to in analogue time.
In English we are listening to the class story, The Train Ride.
In music the pupils have been exploring the sounds of the xylophone and some pupils have been able to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star independently. In P.E we are completing a series of online yoga sessions which have proved very popular with all the children improving their balance and positions each week.
Our next theme after mid term will be 'Lets get cooking' which we are also looking forward to as we love to bake in class 4 and most importantly we enjoy sampling our masterpieces!
