Class 6 is a KS1 class in Lisanally Primary Special School. In class 6 we focus on a positive approach towards learning. Each child is given the opportunity to express themselves freely through multi-sensory learning activities where they can flourish and develop their Personal Capabilities, their Thinking Skills and their Social and Emotional understanding.
We focus on play and interactive activities within the curriculum. We carry this out through group sessions or one-to-one activities with a member of staff who engage and develop chosen concepts within the curriculum. This allows the children to dive deeper into their cognitive learning in a fun and positive way.
There are 8 wonderful pupils in our class, seven boys and one girl. The class teacher is currently Mrs Kelly and the wonderful classroom assistants are Colleen, Michelle, Jenna and Aine.
The children love going on their weekly visits to the ball pool and thoroughly enjoy their outdoor play sessions as this is great for their gross motor skills and their social and emotional well-being. Each pupil is unique, and we work hard to ensure a high-quality differentiated curriculum to meet the needs of every pupil within the class.
By differentiating the lessons, we endeavour to reach the full potential of every pupil within our class. This is carried out in numerous ways through the medium of art, play and multisensory activities where the emphasis is placed on learning through play and providing a nurturing environment.
Term 2 has been very eventful indeed. In term 2 we put our science hats on as we had a wonderful experience with Eureka Science as well as a Dome visit from the Planetarium. Everyone in class 6 continues to work so hard during their independent work and holistic development. We have also kept active this year working on our physical development with Miss Mc Cann’s Rainbow class. This term we are also very excited to join Relax Kids and Urban Motion for their relaxing well-being sessions.
We are looking forward to a fun filled end of year and are very much looking forward to celebrating our First Holy Communion with the Rainbow room!
