The children in Class 7 have had lots of fun learning! In Literacy, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as various book characters. We also focused on 2 books, The Colour Monster and Where The Wild Things Are, and the children painted monsters, made monster masks and discussed feelings using feelings jars. As part of our PE curriculum, the children and staff took part in Movement Monday and Workout Wednesday activities which really challenged our levels of fitness, children and staff alike!! In Horticulture, the children had great fun making bird feeders out of pipe cleaners, fruit and cereal which they then hung up outside for our local feathered friends to enjoy. Play Day proved to be a real success as the children enthusiastically took part in a variety of sensory activities.
Class 7 consists of 2 boys and 6 girls in the Primary Department. We have a busy and varied curriculum which we have endeavoured to make learning fun. Our Recovery Curriculum incorporates a wide range of play-based and creative learning activities which really appeal to our children. They regularly have the opportunity to develop their creative skills and take great pride in their work which is displayed around the classroom. The curriculum also gives the children more opportunities to be outside; these include parachute games, numeracy games, Daily Mile walk and horticulture. The children also enjoy our yoga sessions and sensory circuit which enhance their coordination and body awareness and encourage self-regulation skills. At the end of each day, the children look forward to exploring the contents of their Happiness Box which contains a variety of objects which are specifically selected to cater to their interests. We have enjoyed learning about community heroes this term and have worked hard on learning to tell the time.

We enjoy a busy timetable which includes horticulture, music, sensory circuits, sensory stories, individual work tasks, Jolly Phonics, World Around Us, art and P.E. We use the Interactive whiteboard to consolidate our learning in other subject areas, and particularly enjoy Topmarks learning games. We are taking part in the Daily Mile challenge in which we walk for 15minutes a day to enhance our physical and mental wellbeing.
At our weekly assemblies we look forward to finding out who is ‘star of the week’ and we all work hard to achieve it!
