Hello everyone,
The pupils in The Rainbow Room have been working hard. They have enjoyed topic work for ‘Let’s Go’ and ‘Let’s Get Cooking’. Our current topic is called ‘The Zoo’.
We had 6 weeks of the Relax Kids Programme in January and February. Now we are starting a 6-week dance programme with Urban Motion.
The pupils all have their own preferred favourite activities; these include visits to the ball pool and hydro pool, doing cookery, yoga and musical choice.
Three of our pupils are in the Junior Choir and recently performed at the Portadown and Newry musical festivals.
We enjoy spending time outside in the playground and doing the Daily Mile walk.
As a class we celebrated four pupils in the class making their Sacrament of Penance and these pupils are now preparing to make their First Holy Communion on the 18th May.
Hello and welcome to our class page. There are 5 KS1 pupils in this class and our classroom has a special name; The Rainbow Room.
The Rainbow Room is a nurture classroom. We have a home area with a kitchen, dining table and a living area with two sofas. There are three staff in this class who offer a warm welcome to the pupils each day and provide a safe, friendly and trusting environment for them in which to learn and develop.
The pupils follow a full and varied timetable of activities designed to promote personal development, self-esteem and confidence building. Pupils undertake activities such as news sharing, nurture breakfast, attention autism, cookery, functional reflexology and regular curriculum tasks.
The accepting and positive ethos of our class encourages the pupils to develop positive relationships with both staff and peers.
As we approach the Halloween break, pupils are settled into their classroom and school routines. They have been learning about the topic, ‘Nature Adventures’ through play based activities and arts and crafts. After Halloween our Topic is ‘Guess Who’ which is about people who help us in our community.
We will keep our class page updated regularly with photos and news of what we have been learning about. Enjoy!
