We are a Nurture Room in the Secondary Department of Lisanally School. There are 5 pupils in our class all aged 12-13. As a Nurture Classroom, we have a kitchen area where the pupils practise making a snack and where we have our Home Economics lessons. We have a living room area with soft seating where we can relax once we have completed our work and enjoy a reflexology session.
So far this term we have been revisiting shape and size in Maths as well as completing number recognition and addition exercises. We have already done some colourful pieces of Art for our classroom displays. We are learning about how toys, technology and household gadgets have changed over the years, as part of ‘Our Life Times’ topic.
In Home Economics, we have been practising our peeling and chopping skills and have been making apple tarts and crumbles with our tasty, local apples. We have yoga every week which everyone is trying very hard at and in PE we are practising our ball skills.
We have been lucky with the weather so far and are enjoying getting out every afternoon for our daily mile walk.
