VTU 1 have been working hard in their Newry SRC course. The group are working towards the CCEA Entry Level Award in Food Storage and Preparation. They have made a wide range of meals including Chicken Curry, Lasagne, Cottage Pie, Puddings and even made a Christmas Dinner last week.
We are a class of 11 students – 6 boys and 5 girls aged 17-19. We have a varied weekly programme which includes courses at Southern Regional College, Duke of Edinburgh Award, John Muir Award, Young Enterprise, Work Experience, Choir, Drumming, Yoga and Occupational Studies. Our aim is to enable our young people to build the functional skills they will need in preparing for life after school. Extending on the excellent work completed in Senior School and helping them to transfer skills already learned into a new setting.
We have lots of educational outings and visits as part of our Duke of Edinburgh and John Muir Awards, including Expeditions in the Mournes and Residentials at Shannaghmore Outdoor Education Centre.
With such a busy programme we also ensure to make it lots of FUN too!!
